    haha, read one article about parents complaining that
    the Maths paper for PSLE was too hard.
    Found one of the problem sums question, which i must agree was quite hard for primary school ppl to solve.

    "Jim bought some chocolates and gave half of it to Ken. Ken bought some sweets and gave half of it to Jim. Jim ate 12 sweets and Ken ate 18 chocolates. The ratio of Jim’s sweets to chocolates became 1:7 and the ratio of Ken’s sweets to chocolates became 1:4. How many sweets did Ken buy?"

    my own answer is below:
    Let no. of chocolates each person has be x
    Let no. of sweets each person has be y

    Jim - y-12:x = 1:7
    7(y-12)=1(x)
    7y-84=x
    x-7y=-84 (1)

    Ken - y:x-18 = 1:4
    4(y)=1(x-18)
    4y=x-18
    x-4y=18 (2)

    By simultaneous solving,
    -3y=-102 (1-2)
    y=34
    Each person has 34 sweets at first, so that means Ken bought 68 sweets as he gave half to Jim

    haha lol. i think got simpler method, but this was what i could think of.
